Please don't let it have the same guitar tone as FON.
What the one on the intro or at the end? The horrible intro tone is unlikely, the final solo tone is not.
The beginning, definitely.

Oh... well then I'm guessing you should be safe. It was pretty harsh and abrasive for anything that could be called a ballad. I hope.

I'm enjoying the idea of Jeff dominating this album.

Yeah, they should stop mentioning how many songs they worked on. KurtLeon's the only one who can possibly undercover the ones that don't find a home on an album.

I'm pointlessly speculating that Jeff may have put his foot down and saved this album from becoming total bullshit.

for sure. I am wondering why PJ feels the need to play it safe though. Why can't they take a major left turn?

OH, i know. Cause they release 1 album every 5 years!

They took a major left turn at Backspacer. We just didn't like it.

Agreed. The perfect time to make a big turn would've been right after BS (less than 2 yrs).

I'm beginning to think that Stone's comments about this album alienating people 'like No Code did' might still be right. That will be good news for some, not good for others, as we've already seen.

I only worry about that because stone did not say that after the last recording session.....

I'm in terested in the AN review, how the reviewer says 50% of the record is the recorded he wanted them to release and the other 50% is the logical extension of BS...

I'm wondering if the 50% of the good stuff is from that first studio session where they were excited, especially Jeff. Then the logical extenstion of BS was from the last session that Jeff didn't seem that excited about? Wasn't there an article with something like that? Also, it seems Jeff wants this band to be more experimental, to push them to do things they haven't done, to try new things and Ed wants to do more upbeat poppy thing. At least that's the sense I get, how do you guys feel about that?

Possibly not, I'm not sure. Well then at least we have some of those tracks. Or all of them, I'm not sure.

Edit: oh, and also, that was the Backspacer II session I think, not the more wacky one.

Baseless speculation: I feel like the only reason way they would have done a left turn record was in 90s when ed wanted to do shit just to be difficult. Now he cares less about that kinda thing and more about having a good time at the show man, it aint gonna happen.

Unless they pull their finger out their asses and either release another album quickly, or some FUCKIN EP'S.

Im of the impression that its Stone who welcomes the poppy side of the band more than the others and especially Ed and Jeff. But..the only thing we DO know is.....Who the fuck really knows!

The way Ed approaches vocal melodies and 'fixes,' I think he underwent a real change of intent sometime in the last 10 years.

It looks to me like Stone is fine with the pop stuff, but so is Ed... I can't see any indication of Ed wanting to be more experimental. I can see him 'finishing' other people's songs to make them into pop songs. I think Jeff is the one with the passion and creativity, at this moment in time. Mike just wants to rock out, man.
