That really sucks. He's been absolutely amazing.

At least the Braves can't target any of the Jays best players tonight since they're all already hurt. Hopefully Bautista doesn't miss too much time after Teheran intentionally hits him as retribution for yesterday's unfortunate accident.

There's a big difference between "an absolutely awful pitching staff" and "one of the best pitching staffs in the league having a bad three game stretch".

I've only seen 3 games, but they hit 7 batters and managed to finally hurt our best player for 10 weeks at least in those 3, also call a pitcher a faggot for a quick pitch and flip a bat and stare down a pitcher after a solo shot down 5 runs. This to the decidedly average Braves.

They might be great, but I'm suprised they aren't embarrassed to pick up a paycheck for the last 3.

The bench clearing was silly and I would hope nobody gets intentionally hit. It's not bringing Freddie back faster and nothing was intentional.

It would help me out a lot if Stroman could get lit up tonight.

Sorry Chud, Teheran isn't great and the team was pretty much Freeman/Kemp. Strohman just hit a HR

My fantasy pitching has been so bad, I'm about to bench everyone on my staff except Stroman and Greinke. Those two have been so good, but one of my other 4 get hit so hard it offsets anything Greinke and Stro have done. So frustrating

The organ player in Atlanta is awesome. Played the Barney theme song when Darwin Barney came up and was just playing Black Hole Sun.

I feel like Luke Maile and Marcus Stroman hitting back-to-back homeruns is verging on Randy-Johnson-killing-a-bird likelihood territory.

Baseball is so weird. The Jays looked horrible against Atlanta for three games, then they put out a lineup missing Donaldson, Tulowitzki, Martin, Travis, Pillar, Pearce, and Smoak... and score nine runs.

The Maile; Strohman Home Runs are the first time since interleague play began that a catcher and pitcher of an AL team have homered in the same game I believe.

The Braves may not win again until August. They literally don't have enough major league players to field a professional team without Freeman.

That's the way it's felt for the Jays the last few weeks, and they've gone on a tear. You never know.

What in the world has happened to Tanaka? He didn't give up a single run all spring training. Yeah, sure, its spring training, but now? He sits with a 6.56 ERA, 1.60 whip, a BAA of .310, yet hes also managed a complete game shut out in the middle of this horrible stretch. I just keep waiting for the news that his UCL finally gave out and hes getting shut down.

I'm sure this has been shared before, but I'm just seeing it for the first time. Sharing for those that may have missed it before.

Tanaka tonight, went 7 1/3rds innings, 4 hits, 0 walks, 13 strike outs, and, not a single batter he faced, scored a run.
Yet, he took the loss, and has an earned run!

The last batter he faced, singled. Tyler Clippard threw away a pickoff attempt, the runner went 1st to 3rd (and had one ugly slide into 3rd)
Next batter hits a ground ball to 3rd, runner is out at the plate, batter is safe at first, a batter Clippard faced.
A couple batters later, that runner comes around to score the first run of the game, and that run, is charged to Tanaka (even though Tanaka, did not face that batter)
MLB number 1090977191 sub section B part 117532190 of rule 10915F, page 32, (or whatever) states, a relief pitcher, can not be charged a loss when an inherited runner scores the go ahead run. Also, a relief pitcher can not be charged a loss, when the go ahead run, is scored by a runner, who replaces an inherited runner on a fielders choice play. WTF? I have never heard of such a scoring.

I always thought a starter could not be charged for a loss once all his runners were wiped from the bases? Baseball is crazy. And not only taking the loss, but charging Tanaka with an earned run even though 1 - no batter he faced scored, and 2 - the last batter he faced who got on, who kicked in this crazy rule, advanced 2 bases on an error.


oh, and WTF Tanaka? after 2 of the worst starts of your career last week, you set a career high for K's in a game tonight. Feast or Famine

I'd never heard of that rule before, but I guess it does make sense, since the fielder's choice means the fact that there's a baserunner is still the original pitcher's responsibility. Runners advancing on errors don't make runs unearned, right? So that part still makes sense.

Well you also have the, if he doesn't make the error, the ground ball to 3rd, is a double play, inning over. But of course you cant assume double plays either. It does all make sense, I've just don't recall ever seeing/hearing this before. I've always assumed, once your runners are erased from the bases, you are off the hook for a loss.

It kinda reminded me of that high school girl who threw a perfect game in Californias state tournament and took a loss. After the 8th they start with runners on 2nd. Runner stole 3rd, catcher threw it away, game over. Pitcher throws a perfect loss.
