It was a good reply, but bad use of gif, since we both agree.

I fucking love that scene so much. It's awful only because Dany is 100% right about what it will do, but at the same time it is a terrible thing to have to ask of someone.

And, my god, the literary irony is too rich and delicious! The fact that Jon worships and respects Ned so much, that he believes he shares the same sense of honor and righteousness that Ned had, is brutal here because Ned KEEPING this same secret is the only reason Jon is still alive. And TELLING this secret could be the thing that gets him killed -- or if not him, then many others. The same honor that required Ned to keep the secret requires Jon to tell it.

With all the fuck-ups D&D have made in this episode and throughout the series, that scene was one of the best things they've done. It was fantastic.

darth_vedder wrote:I like this season so far. Sure I have some complaints, but still enjoying it. My only real problem is the need to rush towards the end. I think, as others have pointed out, that if s7 and s8 were both say 8 episodes each, that many of the problems could have been avoided. I just don't get why the show runners were so hell bent on wrapping it up in 13 episodes. It should have been 15 at the very least.
That’s kind of my one real beef too. I’ve come to terms with the unrealistic timelines and location hopping and all that because it’s in service of telegraphing the important story points, but I think it really cheapens the impact to have what appears to be two major battles, likely THE battles of the series happen in such quick succession. In an alternate scenario maybe the battle of Winterfell would have been the final or penultimate episode of full 10 episode s7. Keep the shortened 8th if they needed to.

I dunno, quibbles I guess, but for a show that’s set the bar so high it kind of feels like they are phoning it in a bit here. I enjoy what’s happening for the most part (with the exception of some tactical decisions), I just want more of it.

That was the antepenultimate episode. The Long Night was the preantepenultimate episode.
I didn't know there were words for that.
