I know. It's completely asinine. It's in the top 15 highest grossing films of all time and by the time it finishes it's theatrical run, it might crack the top 10. Ever. There's a shot this movie ends up with 1.5 billion dollars and STILL be kill future stand alone and non-sage films.

The movie business is stupid.

But, yeah, Disney, please make more live-action, shot-for-shot, remakes of your already timeless and outstanding animated films.
Didn't Disney produce like 5 or 6 of the top 10 highest grossing films of 2017?
Yep. And the previous year they recorded higher profits than any other studio in the history of time. They made (if I remember correctly) over 7 billion at the BO over the year which is something that's never happened before. TLJ alone gave them another 1.2 BILLION (at least) to hang on their 2017 total.

In 2018 they have three Marvel films, a Star Wars film, and the return of an old iconic character (Mary Poppins). And that doesn't speak to their animated films or their live-action remakes of animated films. Oh yeah, AND they're launching a subscription streaming service. AND they just bought Fox.

These assholes could lose 10 billion on Star Wars over the next decade and still have enough money to give everyone in America enough money to take a year off.

The Last Jedi didn't make The Force Awakens numbers. But so what? It wasn't ever going to. Disney/Lucasfilm knew that. I know people are reporting it but I still can't wrap my head around how, on any planet, the film was not a commercial and critical smash.
Have to satisfy those stock holders I guess.
Each of those holders got a gold-plated jet and free oral sex coupons for life this Christmas.

Story and Star Wars, the excellent Alasdair Stephens, is releasing his breakdown of the Last Jedi this week. I’ll post it soon as I see it.

Excited to hear his take on it. He’ll have a hard time matching our beloved Stips walkthrough.

Whether you like or dislike TLJ, I can't see how you'd think it was a box office disappointment (money wise)

Most (if not all) sequels usually perform lower than the first movie.

If you remove TFA as the outlier, the next movie on the list is Avatar at 760

If TLJ lands in the mid 600s, that's pretty respectable.

Also, I saw TLJ for a 2nd time. And while it made a bit more sense and I caught some scenes and dialogue I missed before, I still think it's sub-par. Still maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10.

Also, has it been confirmed the kid at the end used the Force to grab the broom? To me it looked like it just grabbed it where it was leaning against the wall.

So if Poe hadn't led the bombers to take out the dreadnought how likely do you think it is that the rebel ships would have been in range of it after the first order caught up with them after their jump?

Poe made the right decision to take that fucker out.
