If so presumably thousands of people fell from the sky at that moment
Maybe Hulk wished everyone to reappear in a safe manner. The stones can do anything.
I hope the Avengers alerted the rest of the world that they were attempting this otherwise millions of people would be in for a shock.

Goes back to much question.
Millions of people would have moved on with their lives and found new loves.
Then their dead ex turns up at the door, Quite alive.

Except bring the dead back. Hulk even says, "I tried, I really did, but I couldn't bring her back."
Also animals, think about that. Fluffy was dusted five years ago and suddenly she's back but now you have another dog, a rescue dog named Kevin, and things are weird.
As for the time travel: The explanation from Hulk was confusing because he said it so fast but iirc it's something like when you travel to the past that's your future because it's on your timeline so for them Thanos has always performed the snap. I'm good with the explanation at that point. It's the one where Thanos - and his entire gigantic-ass spaceship - pop through that gate that confuses me. Also Nebula killing her old self...kind of makes Timecop look like it knew what it was talking about.

Guess it all depends on which fictional story/movie/tv shows rules of time travel youre going to follow. This movie appeared to just make it up as they went as they had too much going on to worry about the nuances of fictional time travel?
It is a great question. If Thanos from 2014, travels to 2023 to stop the Avengers from undoing what Thanos of 2018 did, and dies in the process, Thanos from 2014 would never have been able to do the finger snap in 2018.
The 90's X-men animated series has some great episodes with Cable and Bishop and time travel. In one, Bishop goes back from his time stream to stop a plague from spreading. This causes the time line to readjust all but erasing Cables as hes fighting Apocalypse. So Cable, before he gets dusted jumps back in time. Cable, helps Apocalypse cause the plague, but has Wolverine get infected. His healing factor kicks the plagues ass saving humanity and mutant kind from the plague. Cable returns to his future and its all back to normal. Bishop however, returns to find things even more messed up... so goes time travel.
I really feel like Kahn the Conqueror has to be the next phases build up. The way this movie was toying with time travel and realities. It should also be a good way to introduce Cable/Deadpool and X-Force ahead of the Mutants.

I read Dark Phoenix as a kid in the 80s, and it was the greatest thing I had ever read, the only thing that could compete with Star Wars. I still feel the same way.

They definitely created an alternative universe where Thanos wasn't around to snap, but their universe is already set. Of course, according to these rules, I'm not sure Cap would have been able to go back, live his life in the past, and then show up at the lake. He should have been in an alternative timeline/universe.

What if there is only one timeline?

He probably did. Then towards the end of that life, he hit his thingamabob and came back to the original timeline.

There’s definitely more than one. 2014 Thanos and Nebula being dead confirms that.

If you paid attention to the hulk and sorceress supreme scene then you’d know that changing that taking a stone away would create an alternate timeline. But if the stones once used are put back at the time they are taken (didn’t say it had to be the exact place they were taken from) time would heal itself and be restored in one linear direction instead of splintered

Ah yes, the ripple effect Beast talked about in Days of Future Past.

The funny part, is a lot of us X-men fans, dont want to see the X-men included in the MCU, because we believe Marvel is most likely going to treat them like the B-team.
I do look forward to the day when Onslaught kills the MCU

But with the Thanos of the past being dead, that created a branch off from the original timeline. Yes, the original stayed the same, but an alternate timeline was created
