I am looking forward to going to Cooperstown in ‘25 when Ichiro is inducted
So you plan on waiting forever?Bammer wrote:That crowd is going to be INSANE. All of Japan will be there.
I am saving my Cooperstown trip for Felix Hernandez.

bammer, you're smarter than this. using all-star appearances/voting as a criterion for anything is worthless. hell, derek jeter made the all-star game his last year in the league and the guy had a -.7 WAR and could barely move.Bammer wrote:I am not calling any of these HOF nods into question, just pointing out what feels to me like a bizarre stat.
Adrian Beltre - 21 seasons but only 4x all star
Todd Helton - 17 seasons but only 5x all star
Joe Mauer - 15 seasons but only 6x all star
53 total seasons, but only 15 total all star selections. WTF happened the other 72% of their seasons?
Are you talking about hall of famer Derek Jeter or a different Derek Jeter?Chris_H_2 wrote:bammer, you're smarter than this. using all-star appearances/voting as a criterion for anything is worthless. hell, derek jeter made the all-star game his last year in the league and the guy had a -.7 WAR and could barely move.Bammer wrote:I am not calling any of these HOF nods into question, just pointing out what feels to me like a bizarre stat.

Anyway, Beltre’s 19% all star clip may well be a HOF low? I haven’t looked into it.
I’m just making an observation about a statistic, player. Remember when I didn’t call any of these nods into question.Chris_H_2 wrote:i take back what i said about you being smarter than thisBammer wrote:Are you talking about hall of famer Derek Jeter or a different Derek Jeter?Chris_H_2 wrote:bammer, you're smarter than this. using all-star appearances/voting as a criterion for anything is worthless. hell, derek jeter made the all-star game his last year in the league and the guy had a -.7 WAR and could barely move.Bammer wrote:I am not calling any of these HOF nods into question, just pointing out what feels to me like a bizarre stat.
