The dude the reporter went after was 16 when he said those things. We seal and expunge juvenile records to prevent adults from being judged on their criminal behavior as youths, why are thought crimes not treated the same way?

It is amazing the extents you're willing to go to to suggest that this is some dark new stain on American life rather than, I don't know, a commendable turn away from a culture of excusing racism? Because trying to draw a parallel between juvenile court records and still public tweets is quite the leap. The hypocrisy of the journalist is amazing--one would think that, even if you were personally explicitly racist, you would still know to clean up your own Twitter before publishing that article. I've never posted a racist tweet so I can't be sure, but it just seems like common sense. Beyond that, there's literally nothing remarkable about this.
