If you don't allow the dugouts to empty, the batter is now 1 on 9 (yeah, hes the idiot who charged the mound) but youre going to have cases like Harpers where, he probably has every right to charge the mound. Every other sport, is 5 on 5 (basketball), 11 on 11 (football) generally an even field. And of course baseball has always prided themselves on policing themselves on the field.

Which of course leads to baseball and its unwritten rules. Couple nights ago someone on the Marlins stole 2nd late in the game when they were up 6 or 7. Larry Bowa let him know that that was not cool from the Phillies bench. Mattingly and whatever player it was had a talk after the game, said player called Bowa. Thanks for teaching me the unwritten rules. The next night the same guy was on 3rd in a lopsided game again (man the Phillies are horrible/not fun to watch AT ALL) and, on a wild pitch, said same player (cant remember who it was) just stood there. Didn't want to upset Larry again. But that's another case where, ya break the unwritten rules, you may get plunked later on. Gotta love it.

True, hockey does have bench-clearing rules and basically the opposite demographic disparity of the NBA. However, I don't think it fits into the conversation in the same way because my point was about the leagues (like the NFL and the NBA) was about them trying to mitigate possible blowback in media coverage, and, frankly, the NHL doesn't have to worry about media coverage to the same degree.

Or hell, be a pro and hash it out after the game in the tunnel?

The pitch at Harper was the epitome of bush league. San Francisco should add a large fine. Apparently they have issues on that staff.

When Madison Bumgarner is the guy leading by example, the less experienced guys are probably going to act like assholes, too.

If you're ignoring Canada, then sure.

I would actually argue the opposite. The NHL does have to worry about negative media coverage in the US because coverage is limited enough already that they can't afford to lose fans.

No hitter in Miami and Pujols gets the main headline on MLB.com for something he hasn't even done yet. I've always hated that guy.

Edit: He's one of the greats. Still hate him and the MLB media's love affair with the guy, though.

Jealousy and bitterness, mostly.

He was a terror to the Astros in the 2000s. I can still hear Joe Buck going on and on and on about him any time we'd play the Cardinals in the playoffs. It was too much.

Just hate Joe Buck like everyone else. Fucking "think for yourself"-er.

I can attest that there are few things worse than having Joe Buck as the announcer when your team is playing the Cardinals in the playoffs.

The bounceback after the slow start has been impressive for Toronto.

Hell even regular season games. As an Eagles fan those two are the worse. The Eagles (or NY or Washington) could destroy Dallas, win 50-0, pile up 500 yards of offense, and not allow Dallas a single yard. It will be the 4th Quarter and Aikmen will go on and on about how well some LG has played, and Buck will shift over to Dallas's upcoming games.


As for Pujols, I think most of us Brewers, Cubs, Astros, and Reds fans all hated him for a long time. Don't know why either? he plays the game right, is not flashy, doesn't show boat. Guess he was just that damn good for a long time.

Joey Votto has never popped out to a first basemen. Never.

6-17 start, 22-12 since... impressive is right, especially since most of it has come without Tulo, Donaldson, Martin, Sanchez, Happ, and Liriano. Hell of a run.
