Both are right wing, populists, who made a lot of money in the private sector and both have heavy nationalist leanings. Berlusconi praised Benito Mussolini in the past for example.

Berlusconi is a snake but nationalism is on the rise so he seems to get a pass. He went through a serious tax fraud scandal but some how got out of it. This is just from following soccer in Italy though so I don't know specifics.

Oh, he's the president of AC Milan and he also runs basically all the media in Italy.

Is terrorism to blame for all these populists and intense nationalism sweeping the globe?

Globalism is the big one I think because it enables people to tie all the other issues into one big threat.

That's actually one of the things I was most bummed out about. I was really looking forward to Trump completely disappearing from the news cycle for a while. Now it really is all Trump all the time. I've barely watched any television news since the election out of sheer dread.
