Yeah, this teaser stuff doesn't excite me at all. It feels like they're trying to make a new album a "big deal", as though Joe Public gives two hoots about Pearl Jam - or that's even something worthwhile to aim for.

Can't these guys just do something small, simple and direct?

"Here's our new single, new album is out next month. See you on the road, etc."
i like the imagery and the audio snippet, but the campaign feels like something a 45yo old marketing manager would come up with. "Hey, Instagram is such a huge tool. and AR tools are cool right? Snapchat and things."
man you guys are grumpy.
It's true though, PJ no longer knows their market.
rm is not their market.
but neither are the people that tweet "come to brazil" over and over again or those that incessantly follow their every move. the demographic of the average pearl jam fan is white, male, between the ages of 40 and 60, and who probably haven't put on a pearl jam album from start to finish in 6 1/2 years. and this marketing ploy neither reaches nor excite 95% of the people that call themselves fans. so i think it's ok to question that ploy.

there's no need to take this that seriously, my friend. like i said, today was an opening gambit and then likely monday is the rest.

i really don't take it seriously. it's just more of a reminder of how far the pendulum has swung the other way from where things were before.
