Everybody watch Jarrod Dyson scoring from 2nd on a wild pitch just now.

He fast.

Oh and his bunt to break up a perfect game bid in the 6th this week was a great play and sparked a 7 run outburst so suck it, baseball purists.

Some of those unwritten rules I've never understood. I've also never understood the "fielders indifference" on stolen bases late in games. There was one years ago, Cleveland vs Yankees. Cleveland let someone take 2nd (fielders indifference) then decided since first was open and it was I think A-rod up? they put the batter on, next batter gets a hit, runner from 2nd scores, next batter hits a homer and its a tied game.

Because they'd rather let that runner take second considering what, 30% of runners get thrown out. At that point you create a lot of opportunity for an error that could then put that runner on third, or possibly even score. It's the basic "dont throw the ball around" especially in a game with a decent size lead- that one run is very unlikely to matter. The problem in your example is the defensive indifference wasn't what allowed the runs- it was the walk, hit, home run.

Fielders indifference comes from not holding the runner on at first, you're allowing him to get as big of a lead as he wants. It would make sense if it was a dead pull lefty up or a good hit and run hitter up and you wanted to play the first baseman off the bag to give yourself a better shot at an out, BUT, it was A-Rod. He was pretty spot on though about Arrieta. That guy sucks but still thinks he Cy Young. Must be very frustrating to work with him. Miggy should have kept it to himself and he has a noodle arm, but what he said wasn't wrong per say.

About not holding runners? Arrieta may not be good at it, but it hasn't been an issue for Contreras.
