Jesus, man, that's awesome! An 8:45 pace? Good on ya. Keep it up!Strat wrote:Okay, moved back to the homeland and vowed to start running again. Got some new shoes and went on my first run yesterday.
Not much of a run but giving myself some grace as I haven't really ran regularly in 15 years, also i have eaten and drank my way across the US in this whole say goodbye to co/move to minnesota adventure.
But, i did it. 2.5 miles. 8:45 pace![]()
My lungs felt great but my running muscles are dead.
Baby steps.
Nice! My wife loves her Brooks. She swears by them. And if it's any consolation, I'm a regular runner (like 20-28 miles per week, most weeks) and my race pace is 8:38. So... I think you're golden!Strat wrote:Oh, hey, thanks!
Feel like i should be able to run that for a much longer distance but, again, cutting myself some slack.
There's an awesome running store here that got me set up properly with a pair of Brooks that felt like a million bucks under my feet!
Stormy day here, so hoping for a 45 minute low impact peloton ride, then back out around 1 of our many lakes tomorrow!epilogue wrote:Nice! My wife loves her Brooks. She swears by them. I'm gonna be in Estes Park in a few weeks. Any tips/recs?Strat wrote:Stormy day here, so hoping for a 45 minute low impact peloton ride, then back out around 1 of our many lakes tomorrow!epilogue wrote:Nice! My wife loves her Brooks. Definitely go to the Stanley Hotel for a drink! There's a fancy bar and a normal bar. Your choice! It's the hotel where the TV version of the Shining was filmed and the hotel where Stephen King was inspired to write the Shining.
Definitely go into Rocky Mountain National Park! Bear Lake is the most popular destination and it will be crowded but definitely worth it. Otherwise just driving around the park will be a delight, especially if you go up Trail Ridge Road to the top!
Walk around Lake Estes (outside the park)
Downtown Estes is cute, get ice cream, get pizza, get a beer somewhere.
For real. I hate you strat so so muchepilogue wrote:Jesus, man, that's awesome! An 8:45 pace? Good on ya. Keep it up!Strat wrote:Okay, moved back to the homeland and vowed to start running again. Got some new shoes and went on my first run yesterday.

Pelton is already there! Which i think is a good complement to running/yoga !epilogue wrote:You should put a treadmill in your studio!
I know you’re already in shape from skiing and whatever else, but im super impressed that you can go out and run at that pace. But I’m jealous and hate everything.Strat wrote:I love you Lenny.
Heavy rains all week so doubt ill get any running in which frustrates me because i really wanted to progress and make this habit
My legs were jello for a couple days after. i really do not have those running muscles right now. My lungs have felt amazing though at lower elevation!lennytheweedwhacker wrote:I know you’re already in shape from skiing and whatever else, but im super impressed that you can go out and run at that pace.
