My daughter recently started to love baseball, but only in the sense that she likes to have it on in the background when she's doing something else (she's not even 2 yet). So I'm recording the HR derby so we can watch it tomorrow.

Love this. My son is seven and he's obsessed with baseball. He gets up every morning and watches Quick Pitch on MLB Network. Seriously, every morning. He can quote more stats than any kid I've ever met. As a huge baseball fan myself, I absolutely love every second of it.

She had her back turned to the TV and was playing with a toy, so I tried to slyly check to see what was on the DVR. She turned around, saw that the highlights were squeezed into the corner of the screen, and said, "No!"

Man, I coach an 11u team, and we have maybe 3 of the 12 kids? that watch any baseball at all. Keep telling them even if its on in the background while your playing your handheld video games, just have it on. The two that watch a ton of games / highlights are light years better than the rest when it comes to the basics. I even got the one working on a Stroman / Cueto delayed wind up / quick pitch style. He makes sure to watch highlights of their starts every week.

I really wish theyd ditch the home run derby and turn it into a hitting contest. Or something else... the HR Derby has become such a snore for me.
