7 miles this morning got me to 30 total for the week. Good thing because I'll be on vacation all of next week and won't get in any runs but then I have a 3 mile race and a 10 mile sat/sun once I'm back.
Monthly totals so far this year:
JAN : 66
FEB: 67.5
MAR: 107.5

3 miles in 32:00 on the treadmill. Sadly, that's good for me these days.

Re: The Running Thread
I had not run in ~4 months but decided to give it a try today to shake off some stress. I play ball games 3-4 hours a week so I get a lot of aerobic exercise, but I've been also doing more legs at the gym for the past 3-4 months (especially squats and hip thrust).
I noticed immediately how I could keep a lot faster pace than before and how, even in the steepest hills, my legs didn't feel fatigued and it felt like my heart didn't have to work as hard as it usually does either. I am a little heavier (3-4kg) than what I was in the spring and I definitely felt that, but at the same time I had so much more power and stamina. I'm convinced it's the leg days that gave me that extra pace, stamina and strength!

Awesome! I'm experiencing the same effect from consistent leg days in the gym.contamination wrote:I had not run in ~4 months but decided to give it a try today to shake off some stress. Trying to get back to 4 runs per week. Dropped below 8 minute miles for the first time in a while.
For you trail runners, I just picked up the Speedgoat 5s for $75 at Dicks Sporting Goods. My first pair and I love them.

Re: The Running Thread
I haven't gone for a run since well before my last knee surgery. Leading up to the surgery - my doctor told me 'No more high impact exercises', so I said 'Does that mean running's now out of the question' and he said 'Yes!' - straight after my surgery I said 'So I guess this is the end of my running career' and he said 'Nah, you should be fine' - so I wasn't sure what rules to follow. Pre surgery I was doing 15km runs with some effort, but they were manageable. Anyway after having not run for maybe two years or more I thought this would be hell, but I could keep up a good pace and not need to stop. I only ran 5-6km and at the end of it felt pretty good. A few hours later I could barely walk, and it's taken the better part of a week to get back to normal. Fuck running!

Re: The Running Thread
Any suggestions on basic running watches? I've never used one, but think I'm ready.
I don't need many bells and whistles.
Thanks!
