Negotiating with Donald Trump DOES remind me of when a spoiled child invents a game only they know the rules to, and which they change whenever they start losing, but they still end up crying about something so their dead-eyed parents just shuffle through the game and hiss occasional warnings at each other not to upset the little one.

Well, that is a doubly depressing post because it both perfectly describes Washington and my approach to parenting.

When my kid throws a fit, I am not allowed to give in b/c he learns that throwing a fit gets him what he wants. If Trump wants things, he can act like a human and negotiate.

If you truly believe in DACA and CHIP, I fail to see how politely giving Trump what he wants makes the world a better place.

It's not about giving in, it's about not making him think you don't respect him. And he's not going to learn, so you have to work with what you've got.

That's why I chose that picture. (And to tease McP by showing her in such a way that maybe just for a moment he thought "I get it now").

The irony in all this is that it's really the bad faith promises made within their own party...DACA in January for Flake and ACA for Collins way before that....that are killing Republican attempts to find a budget solution.
