THANK YOU.
I was starting to wonder why no one at all was talking about this. That's the first "big" thing the show (potentially) spoils for the books, right?
It certainly brought some closure to the opening scene of the season. Poor Tommen is likely next.

It's either a smokescreen or Jon Snow is dead and he is going to be resurrected as something else, something slightly different.
Maybe a combination of lady stoneheart and Jon Snow in terms of vengeance and their story arcs from the books- just spit balling here though. I certainly hope that isn't the end.

While we don't know STM's ultimate fate it's more clear now that he loses at Winterfell.

Right. That's true. I guess I always assumed as much. And there is still some doubt about his death, like in the books. Even D&D recently said something like, "if you don't see a body, it doesn't count."
But, yeah, good call on losing the battle.

From the NO SPOILERS thread:

That made up for it when they flashed back to Snow's special sword and we knew something was coming of that. BTW, what happens to that sword now??
I hope Davos takes it.
In reality, I'm sure Jon takes it back when he rises again as AA. And I'm sure when he does, that fucking sword will be on fire.

Fuck yeah. And not only on fire, but actually emitting heat.

Similar. But even that's not quite the same because book readers expected it. Not including her has been the bigger surprise. But we knew she was supposed to be there.
There is no more story right now. Without a new book, we have no idea what to expect regarding the fate of Jon Snow. It's all speculation. So KNOWING that he'll be back for Season 6 kinda ruins it for everybody.
Now if George FatFuck Martin manages to publish book 6 before Season 6... now it's a little bit of a different ballgame.

I hope the opening scene of S6 is LSH. And the final scene is Jon Snow resurrected as AA, fire sword in hand. That'll show all the nay-sayers!

Jon Snow resurrects and immediately teams up with Mance Rayder.

i'd be shocked if kit harington being on set or under contract doesn't leak well before that.

Oh, I will be too. But I can see wanting to keep it under wraps as long as possible. Like it says in that article, some S6 salary figures leaked already and there have been numerous tweets that he's back. I can understand trying to hold it off/maintain doubt/keep the surprise as long as possible.
It's also possible that Kit doesn't know for sure so he's just saying what he's been told to say. I don't know.

Big fat whoop. Maybe that's part of the new look. Or, ya know, wigs. Every single woman on this show except MAYBE Arya wears a wig and they all look super real. A hair cut ain't shit, boo.

It was in his contract to not cut his hair. It is known.
