I've had similar thoughts before, how hearing the song alone won't allow me to properly appreciate it in context once the album is out, but I usually find that isn't the case. Sure, I'm more familiar with the single(s) on first listen, but that disparity drops away very quickly.

I like it more the more I listen to it.

That 'stand back when the spirit comes' line is one of the most ear wormy things they've ever done. I can't get that out of my head.

If anything, having an album reframe a song means you get to discover it twice

Of their more non-traditional lead singles this is definitely the one I took to the quickest, and did not have to really force myself to appreciate.

Agree. Also, though I've been a bit down on the chorus in my initial reactions, it was in my head all day long and continues to feel more and more appropriate for the song. Like, it still doesn't exactly go where I "want" it to go (whatever I mean by that), but the song is roomy enough that it works.

Same. Reminded me of Bowie’s Golden Years for some reason.

I don't remember playing a new PJ song this many times, and loving it more and more/discovering new things each time.

It's groovy, funky, and I find myself tapping my foot & bopping my head.

I just hope it doesn't stick out too oddly amongst the rest of the album, however, Stone's new quote on Zane Lowe has brought me slightly closer back to reality, but i hope we're wrong and the album is out there. The 57m tracklist is very intriguing!

Please leak before I see them in Quebec, and I hope we have GAs.
