it's pretty clear though, based on how the drum beat starts off, that PJ lacks self-awareness of how many times when they get together to write songs, that they come in all 'excited' and this tempo is what comes out (edit: or that they do: and really don't care)

'time to jam, guys!' and then a quasi-Ramones wuss track starts playing

and they all do their Ramones/Who impression

and totally lose sight of the fact that they have put a song to print that sounds exactly like it 10 times before

'OK we did it! what a fun track! can't wait for people to hear this!'

Yes, but what does that have to do with whether the song is good or not? It doesn't.

I'd agree if the song went somewhere.. showed any creativity... evoked emotion... They just keep repeating this boring progression though and it's hard to overlook.

I'm not arguing that you should like the chord progression, just that the basis of whether you do or don't should not come down to whether it's simple to play.

You're right. It's not why I don't like the song, but it's something that probably sticks out to most people who play guitar. In a song like Back in Black you don't have that problem because it's actually a good song. I noticed a lot of other comments on YouTube and elsewhere, in which people are pointing out the chords... it's just one of those progressions you always come up with right away when you learn power chords. I doubt anyone stumbled across the rhythm and feel of Back in Black.

if they had to start it with that basic drum beat, why couldn't they have added some background sounds behind Matt like we get right at the end? like weird noise bookends; the beat in the intro serves no purpose other than to "count them in", which um, there's no need for in studio

haha... yeah.. just offering insight.. the chords are indeed as easy to stumble across as you'd think, which gets a 0 for creativity

I've always thought Shakespeare is overrated because his words use the same 26 letters everyone else does.

And I'm a published author so I am excellent at identifying when letters of the alphabet are used.

why is that a bad thing? ramones had great songs that were easy. My main problem with the song is that its not that interesting nor new. I like the chaotic element on in, love the production but its just an ok song for me.
