"don't go on me"
"I'd rather be with an animal"

one song is a response to the song before it.
Did you mean Vs.?
sorry, separate thoughts. vitalogy is the most autobiographical. i think all 3 are sequenced to tell a story the same way S/T is. in fact EV might do this with all the albums, but the first 3 are most obvious. really sad endings though lol

I was listening to the BoB remix of this album this morning.I like it a lot - makes the sound a little fuller/sands some of the edges off in the places where they weren't serving the songs well. Some of that may just be that I enjoy hearing subtle differences. But it does occur to me that this album might be the least sonilyc diverse album in the catalog

Did BoB remix that? I thought Kasper had another go at it or else it wasn't revealed who had remixed it.

can't speak for other streaming, but spotify has (2017 Mix) and every track name ends with - Brendan O'Brien Mix.

Both records Adam Kasper produced (Riot Act/ITW) have such a warm organic sound to them. I wonder what happened with the 'Self-Titled' recording/mixing that made it sound so thin and lacking in sonic texture in comparison.

my theory is that they wanted a really loud, aggressive sound to counter the perception of 'tiredness' on Riot Act (which was 100% the narrative circa 2004-2005), or something that felt really adversarial and abrasive to match the politics of the record. And there are songs where it works well (primarily the initial run), but it underserves much of the record.

Probably ranks number 4 for me in their catalogue. Absolutely love it.

No kidding - I had no idea. Who knew. Mind blown.

No wonder it sounds equally as shitty.

On board with all views expressed in both of these posts.

I've always sort of suspected, too, that the band heard Sleater Kinney's The Woods (released the previous year) and said "we wanna make a record that sounds like that"

there are two, the spotify mix ( really good) and the Brendan mix that got a physical released ( hate it)
