Don't forget Bones of Birds!

King Animal isn't aging well for me. I rarely listen to it now. I'll be listening to ...Like Clockwork for a loooooong long time.

A lot of songs are better than Get On The Snake.

And, now you've named half the album.
I'm still listening to KA off and on, and it still stands up with the rest of their catalogue.
Back on topic, I've been listening to Clockwork pretty exclusively for the past week. Its definitely grown on me. I wasn't wowed by the first few listens. But, I'm really enjoying it now. I think this one has legs to keep me interested for a long time.
The one thing I will say that I may get criticism for is, some of these songs really sound like other bands could have made
them. I hear that Stone Temple Pilots bass nova sound and vocals in Kalopsia. And, Like Clockwork sounds like a pretty standard Radiohead ballad. Not that there's anything wrong with it.
I originally thought If I Had A Tail was one of the stupidest songs I've heard from them. The lyrics were really annoying. But, I've definitely come around on it and its moved up in my rankings. I love the vibe and the music...but, if only the the opening line of the song wasn't cringeworthy.
Top shelf songs:
Keep Your Eyes Peeled
I Sat By The Ocean
If I Had A Tail
My God Is The Sun
I Appear Missing
Better than average:
Vampyre
Fairweather Friends
Like Clockwork
Okay, but skippable:
Kalopsia - need to be in the right mood for this one; kinda kills the flow of the album.
Smooth Sailing - this sounds like P Diddy's "We Ain't Goin' Nowhere" combined with any Beck song from "Midnight Vultures"

First time I heard Kalopsia I thought Scott Weiland would kill to have written this song. I could imagine the Darkness doing a fun version of I Sat By The Ocean. Bowie could have sung a lot of these songs. Like you said Radiohead on Clockwork and I actually think they could do a great version of My God Is The Sun. The chorus to If I Had A Tail sounds like Peter Gabriel era Genesis to me. People will hate this but I could see Marilyn Manson singing Vampyre.

Please keep any non-QOTSA talk out of QOTSA threads. Show some damn respect for the awesomeness that is QOTSA.
That is all.

I'd say Smooth Sailing is a mix between Turning on the screw, "You got a killer scene here, man..." and Gunman.

Two of the standout tracks from the album.
Note that Kalopsia is the lead track on side 2 of the album. Perfect sequencing.

Amazing amazing songs..there is nothing skippable here, but maybe My god is the sun is the only thing i might grow tired in the future.

Kalopsia is by far my favorite. The way the beautiful verses just collapse into that gritty, crunchy chorus. Love every second of it.
