Try jogging in the sand, that is some great exercise!

Let's not use the J word. It's "running".

Perhaps I should take this to the irrational hatred thread.

10 miles in 72 minutes

Hit the treadmill after work. Thought I could punch out a sub-70, but once I started going, that clearly wasn't gonna happen. So I set it to 7:30 miles. About 3 miles in I started feeling better, so I bumped it up to 7-minutes flat. Just held on until the end. No finishing kick. Done in 72. Not bad considering how shitty I felt.

A lot of runners see "jog" as an insult because you are basically implying that they are running slow.

Yes.
I would guess that some people would consider about 99% of ultrarunners to be joggers. I rarely go faster than 8:30 to 9-minute miles in races. I averaged about 13-minute miles in my last race (24-hour) and did very well. I would have probably punched someone in the face if they called me a jogger during that run.

just bustin' balls.

serious talk...is there a point (mph) where jogging turns into running? talked to a friend of mine the other day and he said he ran three miles. i've run with him before and i can walk faster than he 'runs'.

Honestly, jogging is running. That said, some people seem to set it at 6 mph or 10-minute miles. That's about a 4:20 marathon. The average finishing time for marathons is about 4:35 or a 10:30 pace.

6 mph is what i've heard a lot around these parts. there's also a specific group of people at the gym that look down on others for jogging/running really slow. seriously. i've heard them say "why are they even here?" "i can walk faster than that"

any cardio is better than no cardio peeps.

Yup. There are a lot of douche bag runners around that shit on slow runners. Fuck them! We'll all be old one day struggling to put one foot in front of the other. We should be celebrating anyone that runs, no matter the speed.

I go out of my way to associate with the "dirty hippie" type of runners. They have their own set of douche baggeries ("It's about the journey, not the finish, man!" ), but they tend to enjoy running for the run and not just to feel superior to others.

Average finishing time for a marathon is 4:35? Shit - I need to get my act together. Granted I've only run one and didn't put in a heap of training, but I was just shy of the 5 hour mark....

I'd be pretty bummed if you were referring to me. I like to think that I'm supportive of people with all types of abilities. I think I have demonstrated that in this thread.
