'88-'96 were some great, great years for Neil.

Oh, thanks for reminding me...I listened to this record twice last week, for the first time in about 10 years. I quite liked it. It's loose and raw, and also sad and pretty. I don't think there's a bad song in the bunch. Piece of Crap is probably my least favorite, mostly because it doesn't really fit with the vibe of the record; any my favorite is Blue Eden, which is just brilliant.

Anyway, great album to revisit. I didn't realize how similar this and Chrome Dreams II sounded.
Change Your Mind and No Hidden Path are in my top 3 NY tracks.

The drumming on Peace Trail is really annoying but I'll have to give it another listen.

Neil says he's already recording a new album with Promise of The Real.

I thought "Monsanto" was okay but I wonder what he gets from the Promise of the Real that he doesn't get from Crazy Horse. Younger guys with less resistance to being bossed around? Either way, time is short, and Crazy Horse is Neil's destiny.

I dont get the sense that the rest of crazy horse is as healthy as neil. Drummer had a minor stroke a couple years ago didnt he?

That's a shame, but understandable. Thinking about it though -- I've liked all of Neil's albums from the past 15 years or so in one way or another, but "Americana" and "Psychedelic Pill" tower so high over the rest of them in my mind that I can't help but hope this isn't the end for them. What a band.

I'd be sad if he doesnt do some more work with them. I feel very fortunate to have finally saw Neil with the Horse a couple years back.

If not - I think Promise of the Real is a great band for him but i hope he maybe spends more time editing some of his lyrics these days :haha:

Billy talbot had a stroke. Pancho broke his hand. Rick Rosas died. I love the horse, but neil needs a band that can keep up with him. PJ again? I kid

It's crazy that Neil's brain once basically exploded and he is still healthier than the entire Horse.
