Probably about a quarter through - Here Ever After and Aquatic Mouth Dance are awesome. Black Summer is still weird with the fake Irish accent. Poster Child sounds really good now. So far so good.
Up to Bastards of Light. The only song that didn’t do it for me so far is Not the One. Yes this is more mid tempo stuff, but I think it works for them.

I was excited for John’s return. Is he even on this? All I can hear is Flea.
Poster Child used to be called We Didn’t Start the Fire when I was a kid.
I never would have thought a new album with John and a new album with Josh would come out and I would love the Josh album and dislike the John album, but here we are.

Tried to listen to it twice (when leaked and today), but this is just not for me.
I blame the sequencing, the flow makes me tired.
What I can remember from it now is something about a lot of Anthony Kiedis speaking (not singing) over some ambience sounds (an album full of Poster Child). Too much AK, not enough JF.
Next time I'll try to reverse the album sequence, maybe I'll appreciate more the latter tracks.

I don’t think it is sequencing - it is length. In the post-CD world, 73 minute albums are exhausting. I mostly liked what I heard but make this an 11 or 12 song album instead of 17 and you got something on your hands.

My first thought was basically this - Flea is LOUD on this mix.

Excited JF is back, although I loved The Getaway. Those 1st 3 songs kinda killed my enthusiasm, but have to say I enjoyed all 3 of those in the context of the album.
Still piecing together my favorites on this, and while I don’t think this is a top 5 RHCP offering, not enough stellar tunes, they do sound tight as hell.
This is better than I expected based off the 1st 3 songs we heard, still too long just like every Peppers record, but I’m enjoying it.
