Rough way to end that game. Blount had to extend his arms juuuuust a bit for the TD, and the call for the 2nd Brady sneak was brutal. My FB is a wasteland of whiners right now, but even Brady didn't do much complaining, which tells you all you need to know about how that call was correct.

I just feel numb. Everyone knows that the Pata should've scored with 4 plays from the 1. This wasn't supposed to happen. I'm scared to live in a world where the Seahawks beat the Patriots on a Sunday night. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to explain this to my kid.

Yep. I could have been imagining it too, but it seemed like commercials weren't as bad this weekend as well. Maybe they're finally listening to the fans.

The next thing the NFL needs to do is drop all this right wing bullshit. Why are the Armed Forces (aka the taxpayer's money) involved in the NFL at all? Football should not have a sponsored political leaning, and it's having a major effect on the tenor of the broadcasts and all the "No Fun League" calls we're seeing this year. It's entertainment, make it entertaining.

Are you talking about this weekend specifically or just overall? Because it was Veteran's Day weekend this past weekend...

And how is having the military involved a political leaning? I honestly want to know. Or are you just generalizing with the old "dems hate the military and rebuplicans love it"?

Yeah, I don't know if I agree with Orpheus on that one. It definitely appeals more to a red stater than anyone, but military appreciation is kinda for everyone.

It's more pandering to squishy feelings of the average fan than being political. The NFL actually tries to steer clear of obviously political areas because, like most businesses, Republicans and Democrats are both customers.

I actually think devoting an entire month to breast cancer is worse in the overdone department than what we saw last week. It's always struck me as an empty effort to gain female viewers.

Agreed. And, the pink stuff they sell is only to raise awareness. Very little money actually goes to research.

It's really even worse, because the month for breast cancer is really just pandering to desperately try to get every last female viewer and up until maybe last year the vast majority of all those heartfelt military tributes..... bought and paid for by the DOD. So your tax dollars at work in addition to all that money we spend on stadiums. I'm not saying it's not even a good recruiting tool, but virtually every kind of good natured thing the NFL seems to do is so shallow and empty. Do they care about prostate cancer? Head injuries? I mean that's their actual audience.... If they were giving huge amounts of revenue to Wounded Warrior or to prosthetic research I could get behind that.

The grassroots tributes from players like Deangelo Williams for his mother who actually died of breast cancer.... they get squashed.

I just have little to no respect at all for the NFL FO and most of the ownership. It could be so much better if they actually tried.

Oh, definitely overall. It just seems like the NFL likes to position itself as this quasi-conservative "good Ole boy" league in comparison to the NBA and MLB, and I think it's hurting the sport. All of the things we associate with the "No Fun League," from the paternal discipline to the unasked for and unnecessary crackdown on celebrations, seem to have this root in football being the sport where "we do the right things, y'all," and I think it's stupid and people are starting to feel chafed by it. Just something I've noticed, and I'm kind of getting sick of.

And I was just talking shit Coach, but you have to admit it's kind of ironic to post "the Cowboys are overhyped" days before they play what was probably the best game of the year and beat an AFC favorite to earn the best record in the league. Not exactly great timing.
