Temple of Doom is my favorite Spielberg movie, and I'd also rank The Lost World quite highly.durdencommatyler wrote:Minority ReportLoathedVermin72 wrote:I would go even further and say that Spielberg has made fewer than five movies I think are bad.
Temple of Doom
AI
War of the Worlds
Jurassic Park 2
There's five that I'd call bad. Just off the top of my head.
I haven't even seen Lincoln or Schindler's List or Tintin.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Temple of Doom is my favorite Spielberg movie, and I'd also rank The Lost World quite highly.durdencommatyler wrote:Minority ReportLoathedVermin72 wrote:I would go even further and say that Spielberg has made fewer than five movies I think are bad.

For me, the bad is:
The Adventures of Tintin
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Lincoln
Schindler's List
A.I.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

It is awesome. But it's not a good movie.tragabigzanda wrote:Also, Temple of Doom is awesome. Never understood the backlash it got.

It means that it's not a well crafted film. But it's still fun to watch in spite of its flaws. I can put on Temple and marvel at its badness and be entertained by its more entertaining moments. But that doesn't mean its a competent film. Its the very definition of that thing you don't believe in, actually.LoathedVermin72 wrote:what does that even meandurdencommatyler wrote:It is awesome. That's absurd. It's an incredibly well-crafted film. You can fault the film for many subjective issues, but it's cinematic craftsmanship isn't one of them.durdencommatyler wrote:It means that it's not a well crafted film.
