at the very least, how did dany not have advance scouts (hell, as she needed was one) to notice 30 ships with the giant crossbows?!? euron and those guys obviously knew she and the dragons were coming, otherwise they wouldn't have already been aimed on them. so how didn't she notice?

She had no reason to expect ballistas on ships.

She owns two dragons. Most things are easily dealt with in that case.

Most especially ships.

They could have made it so she sees the ships. In her waters by dragonstone and she went in to attack.


But it’s iron island fleet. She could have easily assumed it was Yara.



But mainly. She has no reason to suspect there’s artillery on those ships.

No, the ships were just surrounded by an impenetrable amount of plot armor.

They should have just had Rhaegal die via a scorpion on the attack on King's Landing. That could have fueled her decision.

Rhaegal isn't dead. When Jon wants to take out Dany, and Drogon is there to protect her, Rhaegal will show up and protect/save Jon.
