for the sake of the MVP award, regular season makes the most sense. but imo, it is more impressive to be the best over the playoffs than in the regular season. the regular season is when millionaires are not necessarily trying. in the playoffs, they are trying. but to the point i think folks might be trying to get at: i believe lebron was more impressive than kawhi over the regular season. he had better stats, and strikes me as being more valuable to his team. kawhi is a great player, but the Spurs can still win without him (maybe not vs. GS; but you saw how they handled Houston when he was out). But at the end of the day, the league needs some younger stars to start to juice up so let's all just drink some sprite and forget that the refs just called 27 fouls on the Kings.

It depends really. For Westbrook/Harden who have no chance of ever winning anything that matters in their current state, yes.
For the Cavs and Lebron especially, the regular season is practice. Their season starts in May.
Lebron is the best player in the league and the most dominant. Regular season awards are a nice door prize for giving people something to watch while we wait for the real season to begin.
