So I’ve read the first two issues of the Kylo Ren comic. He’s being played off like Anakin was in AOTC. A very powerful little brat who whines and bitches when things don’t go his way. Granted, his uncle had thoughts of killing him, but he’s acting like everything is due him because he’s so powerful.

Also, he met the Knights of Ren when he was younger. Luke took him on a mission along with Lor San Tekka to see if an old Jedi Repository of artifacts was real. It was and the Knights of Ren were there led by, guess who? Ren. Ben has already been in contact with Snoke (who reveals that isn’t his real name and he chose Snoke as his new name) for a while and is talking to him mentally the whole time they’re on this mission. Well, Ren says he and his cadre are taking the artifacts and Luke says hold on there pal. Luke takes all 6-7 of them on and wipes the floor with them.

Cut to later after Ben has destroyed Luke’s Jedi temple and he’s under the impression he killed Luke, as well, so he goes on the run. Apparently he did kill a bunch of other students and the three that are left fight him and after he wins follow him. He runs straight to Snoke who tells him to choose a new name and Ben already knows what his new name will be.

So I've only seen this once (which is telling in itself) but I have to say that this was pretty disappointing to me. But I still think TLJ is a masterpiece and this clearly moves in a different direction.

Please see it again. At least once. Twice if you can.
Or just go with LVs review and sit back and just accept it no nitpicking.
It’s way more enjoyable when you just let it do it’s thing

I do need to see it again so it can be the movie it is rather than the movie I wanted it to be.

There's some good stuff in it for sure. I didn't hate it or anything. I was just disappointed in it.


Pros:
Fun seeing lando again
Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver killed it as usual.
Hux being the traitor was a nice touch - too bad he was killed immediately afterwards
It's star wars - I'm always happy just being in the world


Cons:
Movie was way too rushed. If it was two films it would have been better. There were a number of ideas worth exploring that got like 30 seconds each.
Did not like the wet fart that was making Rey Palpatine's granddaughter and the choices that followed.
It played too much like a sub par EU novel in terms of the plotting
Thematically nothing interesting going on, which was especially disappointing after FA and especially TLJ
The cavalry arriving at the end didn't elicit the reaction it should have
Wish it didn't have the emperor

I think I'd rank it as the weakest of the post FA movies, but I haven't seen solo since the theaters. I should watch that again. Still light years ahead of the pre-quels for me. I had a fun enough time at the movie (it is not a disaster), but it was not what I hoped it would be to close out a story that is so important to me.

It was new footage. He was almost literally hidden in a bag. Majority of people working on the film didn’t know he was in it.


Ps they’re imperial era star destroyers. Palpatine playing the long long game with several contingency plans. Back up to the back up to the back up.

Also he wants Luke to strike him down in ROTJ for exactly the same reason he does here. To possess the body and rule and have their power along with his own

Even aside from that Palpatines plans and machinations make perfect sense within universe for the character. Have you even watched the prequels?
It’s not the films fault you’re not aware of it. But you’re picking real world tactics and strategies and putting them into an established story where they don’t fit or belong when you don’t have the grounding or background is really silly

It's about $90 million behind TLJ in the domestic box office, but all of TLJ's good days are over now in the day to day comparison. TLJ ended on 1,33 billion overall, including international numbers. TROS will pass 1 billion this week, it's on 990 million after this weekend.

I think we’re asking too much. We don’t know how force ghosts come back and interact with the physical world. They just do.
Palpatine found a way to come back. What kind of explanation or how much precious screen time do you want to spend spelling that out for a regular cinema goer who just accepts it?

It’s really odd to me it’s Star Wars fans have the problem with it and regular people just don’t

We should know better. If anyone could come back for more it would be palpatine.
Christ the groundwork is even laid down in ROTS with Palpatine telling Anakin about unnatural ways around death

One of my favorite elements of Star Wars is the Serial Adventure aspect. I like that it starts with Episode IV for example and we jump straight into the action. I like the crawl precisely because it's meant to catch you up on what you've missed since you've been away -- or in case you haven't seen the previous episodes. It's for those reasons that I think the opening crawl of TROS and Palpatine being back bother me a lot less than others.

I do wish it was handled better and there's no reason that it couldn't have been. But what is understandably a big issue for some is a very minor thing for me.
