Even with McCullers you have what, Fiers starting game 3 of a series? I don't like that and I say that as someone who kind of likes Mike Fiers.

Houston's future is now. The young players they need are all playing in the majors today. This is not the time to over cherish prospects. Go all in.

DK, McHugh and a healthy McCullers is good enough for me with Fiers on standby. Fiers/Peacock can both surprise you btw

I like the team, I really do. But I'd be worried about that starting rotation come October.

I can say the same thing about the Red Sox. At least you guys have offense.

I think part of that payment was due to need. Some of the market for starting pitching may not heat up until the winter. There's a lot of young talent I think that's potentially available that isn't going to so much help in a pennant race. So many teams are "close" there weren't many willing trade partners.

The A's I guess were just going to trade Gray, and the other teams in the market for him weren't willing to deal.

2011 draft pick still cheap and so promising, it must really suck to be an A's fan.

I would take Gray anyday over Quintana. But you are going to pay more for jumping on a player early. And yeah, if I was the Astros id have gone all in. You never know whats going to happen, I never thought the Brewers were only going to make 2 playoff runs with their core that started in 2008 with the CC trade.

Including a pitching rotation of Roger Clemens, Ben Sheets, Tim Hudson, Josh Beckett, Roy Halladay and Roy Oswalt? That's a hell of a pitching staff (even if most of those guys have arms that have fallen off a few times)

That's true, but Barry didn't strike out much either, there wasn't much opportunity to beat him by pitching to him. What we have now are a bunch of Adam Dunn style players. (better obviously but the same kind of plate approach)

oh for sure. and for the record, before someone jumps down my throat, i was in no way suggesting that stanton is even remotely as good as barry was.

I really enjoyed that Mets boxscore from yesterday. That has to be record, if that sorta thing is even tracked.
