To put it briefly, it deals with the Kantian sublime, coming to terms with your past/family/trauma/self, and the passage into adulthood.

the only thing that stopped me from this was some of the reviews were less than stellar.

I can see where that's there, though the first is the only one I think it comes close to saying anything interesting about.

Plus it has that base. I want the rolling ball. Certainly we have the technology to have an actual bb8, right?

I'm sure it's probably been mentioned in the previous nearly 60 pages but what if Rae isn't Luke's daughter but Ren/Ben's twin sister?

I think the consensus is that Han/Luke would have known and said something.

For example, not casting Hayden Christensen

I think Luke might not even know he has a daughter. If he'd had a daughter that he abandoned when stuff with Kylo went bad, Han would have known that and thus known who Rey is.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

evidently the range on the hasbro one sucks, and you have to be pointing it directly at the droid the entire time

I wasn't going to tell him that part because then he just would have said that the real BB-8 doesn't need a charger.

Is it difficult for you to read betweent he lines and connect dots? That would make sense considering blackhat and ridiculous 6....
lol @ the idea that TFA does this any meaningful way, or that this is what Kasdan was talking about. If anything, how there is now magically a new organization that is exactly like the Empire is something that needs to be explained way more urgently than all the other things that get talked to death through mindless exposition in this shitshow of a movie.
Dude, all that happened in jedi was Vader and Palpatine were dismissed. There are still thousands of clones and soldiers around the galaxy. Someone stepped up into their place. THis HAPPENS IN THE REAL WORLD. Also, there is a story with Snoke.

How is that difficult for you to comprehend? I truly am astounded.
The celebration at the end of ROTJ was way more cathartic than just some leaders were killed and now someone else was just gonna step in. The Empire was destroyed. The war was over. I'm not cool with new filmmakers just stepping in and saying, "Oh, actually, the bad guys weren't defeated and now the Empire is just called something else." Bullshit.

my BB-8 stairs post in the other thread got me thinking how easy it is in the star wars world for everyone to access all areas. rey and BB-8 able to go down a stairwell and into an unlocked room to discover a mass of treasures, the pirates boarding han's freighter no problem, seemingly every door on starkiller base easily accessible by pressing a button or pulling down a latch. and of course the millenium falcon having no keys.

it's just another example of the importance of not taking the SW universe too seriously, including massive plot holes, the lack of character backstories, etc. these movies are really just big, dumb action movies aimed at kids, and they're meant to be fun first.
