Just finished it this Sunday.
Maybe I'm an easy crowd, but I loved it right away.
I was already a fan of Ali Wong's stand up going in, now I'm very impressed by her acting.
Also most of the paintings chosen for the intros.

Beef goes from 0-100 pretty fast, huh. Such a good show.

Steven Yeun has serious acting chops. He was also great in Nope, if a little underutilized. Perhaps the only good thing to come out of The Walking Dead.

Indeed. Powerful moment, that.

They also had Morphine's "Cure for Pain" in there. Rad soundtrack overall.

I'm trying to get through season 3 of Deadwood, but it's not doing much for me. The characters get less and less interesting.

May do Band of Brothers next, I don't know.

Bodies on Netflix. Two and a half episodes in and I doubt I'll continue. Usually, this sort of thing would be right up my alley. But it pretty much sucks!

Top Boy

Modern Bri'ish crime drama, innit. Really good so far. You guys might need subtitles though.

Very interesting show from Norway called Makta. Not sure how well it would translate, but it's both fairly true to history, and hilarious at the same time, about the Norwegian Labor Party in the 1970s and early 1980s. Think those that made it are sympatethic to the Labor Party, but some of those still alive that were there, hate it, and others that were there, think it's fairly accurate and fun.

Also despite this being in Oslo in the 1970s, and looking excellent for portraying tha time, they show famous buildings built in the 2000s in the show. Peculiar. They have also cast some famous politicians from that time, that werw white, that are now portrayed by persons of color.

Makta
Norvège - 2022
Silje Storstein, Kristin Grue, Johan Fasting
Season 1 - 12 x 55 minutes | World Premiere
In Norwegian with French & English subtitles
Episodes 1 & 2
https://canneseries.com/en/series/power-play-1/

In the presence of creators and screenwriters Johan Fasting, Kristin Grue and Silje Storstein, director Yngvild Sve Flikke, actors Kathrine Thorborg Johansen, Øyvind Brandtzæg, Jan Gunnar Røise and Manish Sharma.

"Power Play (Makta) is the incredible story of Gro Harlem Brundtland, who in the late 70s works as a young doctor, fighting for self-determined abortion, when she almost by accident, stumbles into politics. As the government implodes around her, Gro learns to play her own games of power, climbing the ranks until she is the last woman standing in the ruins of Labour’s celebrated social democracy, ending up as Norway’s first female Prime Minister in 1981.

Note from the artistic direction
Straight from Norway, this political comedy, in the same vein as offbeat series such as Veep or In the loop, reveals the unlikely advent of Gro Harlem Brundtland to the Prime Minister position in the 70’s and 80’s. Surrounded by men that were not the most skillful nor fond of the common good, this female politician, committed to abortion and ecology, will beat the odds. Funny, spirited and incredibly well-paced."

Just a genocide.

All the new tech.

Haven’t figured out tunnels yet though.
Somehow.
