Will do. I love my diet soda but need to take a break and hydrate up.

Pee is too warm and smelly right now.

Cool it down, baby. Clear.

But there were a few interesting things that popped out about the lyrics that I've been thinking about this morning.

Setting Sun seems to share several lyrics that were in Scared of Fear and React/Respond & even (I believe) Waiting For Stevie
If this is the case, I think it's makes Setting Sun that much cooler as an album closer cause It bookends many of the themes of the album

Scared of Fear mentions one last setting sun in the lyrics, and also talks about love not being reciprocated which I think is addressed in both Waiting for Stevie and Setting Sun
React / Respond has some similar lyrics as well with Setting Sun, as there is a verse about standing on the porch , closed door, waiting for someone

I noticed throughout the album that there seemed to be a running theme about a loved one who is either thinking of leaving, or has left.
There's also lyrics in several songs about love not being fully reciprocated

Cool thing I noticed about Scared of Fear, and will have to confirm once the official lyrics are in front of me is that there seems to be a verse (2nd Verse?) where Eddie might be referring to Pearl Jam, their career and the fanbase directly...It's not the we used to dance bit....but another bit about being too proud, too loud and hoping we're all okay or something.
Again, can't remember any of the actual lyrics, but I remember it really jumped out at me as a summation of Pearl Jam and almost kind of felt like a subtle farewell of sorts...
Final verse and outro of Setting Sun address a bit of that too.

I don't know if any of this makes sense...or others noticed it and took better notes than I , but the album felt very thematic and very cinematic with a clear story running throughout.
Which, is definitely at odds with many people who are feeling the lyrics are the weakest part of the album so far
I definitely don't share that feeling; especially after last night.

Truthfully I was really struck by how dark some of the lyrical content actually was even on some of the more uplifting sounding songs
I'm a total sucker for that kind of music anyways...ever read the actual lyrics to Dancing in The Dark by Springsteen?
Probably the best example of the saddest lyrics put to the happiest sounding song.
Dark Matter seems to follow that formula.

Obviously Eddie has always had a bit of darkness in his lyrics, but it has always been mixed in with a bunch of optimism too
On this outing, I'm not finding much optimism in his lyrics and that hopefulness or way forward doesn't seem to be as present.
I think this is the darkest the lyrics have been since Riot Act

Just curious if some of you are noticing this too.
I completely agree this was a running theme throughout the album. I also got that he was saying we are on the last stretch of our lives. His last time of his kids living with him, needing him. How much time is truly left?

Yes, I feel like when it's super yellow it's a bit warmer.
I prefer a diluted, clear stream. I'll get there by 2 p.m. today I'm sure. Takes a couple hours.

Very true, I just mean more on the clear side. The pee thread has a pretty good visualizer for that, too.

I still think the first two songs on DM will have the most staying power.

While I enjoy hearing the hooks and some cheese, I do worry that those might fade away much like 7 O'Clock did for me.

This is not an intellectual exercise. It sounds like Pearl Jam.
This is where I'm at. I realize that for some the details matter more than others, but the songs aren't gonna appreciably change upon final release. Some might get a bump up and others a bump down but the guts of these songs is apparent on the recording I've heard.

I feel like this tends to happen when songs are released as singles. It's one of my favorites! It's actually grown on me even more in context of the album. It has such an awesome anthemic, classic PJ chorus, and the blistering solo at the end is fucking great.

While most of the album is mid tempo, this one actually rocks.

It was a stand out from metal door leak on day 1, and I love it even more now. Gonna be so good live too.
I'll second this. It remains one of my favorites on this album. It's a pretty great song, full stop, and is only improved by the fact that it is somewhat of an outlier
