Nunes played this extremely well, as cynical a realization as that may be. The sizable percentage of the country buying into this are going to believe the memo says what they want it to say, regardless of the contents of the memo itself. The content of the memo is practically irrelevant in terms of how it's impacting people.

We should probably wait to see the contents before judging his strategy. To quote Guy Fieri; "he aint the sharpest tool in the shed." The efforts to discredit it have made me more interested now because I had assumed it was some stupid OMG HER EMAULZ bullshit or the usual red team misunderstanding of how FISA works, but that isnt sexy enough to cause all this panic.

The e-mails are a fairly good comparison, actually, IMO. By the end of the campaign, the fact that there were e-mails was issue enough. What was in them? Whatever you wanted there to be. I just think two weeks ago we were talking about allegations of obstruction of justice, and now 60% of the time we're talking about a memo, which seems to mean it did what was intended. And if and when it's released, particularly if it's at all redacted, the contents of the memo will matter less for people than the fact that there is a memo. People will make it whatever they need it to be.

If that's all it is, it changes nothing, and this will backfire spectacularly. They cannot be that dumb.

The majority of them wish death on whole swaths of people so why not return the favor?
