We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Same release schedule as Gigaton.

Just staggering that they would release those two other songs to promote this album. This is a 4- maybe 5-star song with some obvious production flaws. Those other are are bad songs with bad production on top.

They continue to confound at every possible chance.
Agreed. Makes no sense to me other than they think mainstream fans only care about rockin' Pearl Jam. But isn't Last Kiss like their biggest single? Sure, this wouldn't have made the hard rock charts, but it's far and away better than Dark Matter and Running. I mean Dark Matter, fine. But Running as a single makes 0 sense.
A leak last year said Dark Matter and Wreckage would be the singles.

I think DM did way better than expected. So instead of cannibalising airplay, they tossed out Running as a promo single to tide us over.

Complete speculation, who knows.

Maybe the music video they teased was for Wreckage

If I had to pay $20 shipping so my album would show up 3 days late (entirely missing opening weekend) then wtf did Demetrios do to get it 2 days early?!

Absolutely. I've only heard the 3 songs but Wreckage sure sounds like the perfect 2nd release to me.

Running was effectively just an album track dropped early to my mind; they didn't make a big fuss over it, nobody did

Did you order it?
No, and I'm still on the fence. I'll be at RSD for a Wilco release so I may grab it depending on how they whole thing shakes out. I'd be just as fine not owning it.
Let’s buy it together

Running also seems like the kind of song they would’ve put on the B-side of the first single usually, so maybe they just staggered those two songs out for that reason.

Just listened to Wreckage for the first time. I'm a drummer and the drums sound fine to me. On the 2006 tour, Matt often used the Mike Bordin (Faith No More) Yamaha signature snare drum - a copper shell. Matt, in recent years especially, gravitates more towards darker sounding snare drums, such as copper.

I couldn't agree more; I don't hear anything in these snare drums that I don't always hear in Matt's snare drums, for better and worse

But it doesn't even sound like copper. It just sounds like a Linn drum through a PA.
I just don't agree.

I know everything tends to sound "better" with bigger speakers and louder volume, but Wreckage holds pretty well from the experience yesterday! Also one of the best of the batch for me, anxious to hear SoF, RR, Stevie and Special, which were my early favorites (and still unreleased). I do think the drums sound worse, but I'm not that offended by the snare, I think there's other instruments that sound worse on every other song released than the drums (namely the guitars and bass, except in DM).
