And the many examples of distracting and unfortunate production undermine whatever slim chance it had at cohesiveness.

I mean, sirens after my father's son? Who possibly put those two together and said, "yeah, that's good."?

yeah, there are some really unfortunate tracking choices. I came up with a retracking I thought was really good shortly after the album came out. I wonder if I still have it somewhere...

Still have the playlist.

Mind Your Manners
Getaway
My Father's Son
Swallowed Whole
Infallible
Yellow Moon
Pendulum
Let the Records Play
Sleeping By Myself
Lighting Bolt
Sirens
Future Days

Maybe I'll give it a listen later. I wonder if it held up. I recall being a bit less confident in the pendulum--sleeping by myself run.

I'm surprised at how well this album has held up for me. I still find the run from Infallible to Yellow Moon to be very rewarding. My biggest problem with the album is still the opener. It's just a horribly flat song to open with.

I really liked the live version that someone posted a while back (maybe it was ridley, not sure?)

LIGHTNING BOLT LIVE
Pendulum
Lightning Bolt
Mind Your Manners
My Father's Son
Sirens
Getaway
Infallible
Swallowed Whole
Let the Records Play
Sleeping By Myself
Yellow Moon
Future Days

^ It hasn't held up very well for me. After the newness wore off, it really dropped.

When I got a new car in November, we got a year of Sirius. I check out the PJ station often, and they play a lot of the LB tour, and from what I've heard, I'm glad I don't really get the boots any more. Ed sounds really bad on some of those shows and the music just sounds fast and sloppy. Don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, I just have a hard time with modern PJ. From me just not liking the songs, to Ed's singing style, to the band playing sloppy, it's just not for me.

What makes it worse is when Sirius plays stuff from 98. To hear this band then, vs. now is astonishing.

I really dont think the band plays sloppy. They just play really fucking fast and it seems less focused. But i dont hear "sloppy" or trainwreck.

Hasn't Binaural always been the de facto favorite album to retrack? Just because some of us are obsessed with retracking doesn't mean there's no inherent value in LB as it is.

it's true that our desire for retracking is not the reason there is no inherent value in LB

There are at least 4 tracks on LB that should be ahead of this at The Burning.

SW gets VIP in my opinion, but Fathers Son and Future Days are welcome to join The Burning, and the chorus of Infalible is not safe either
