O'Brien produced Can't Deny Me which came out in 2018 so they were recording new material with him as recently as then. I'm not sure if I buy that they scrapped a bunch of already-completed sessions and started afresh with a new producer (or no producer) in 2019.

If I'm Jeff or Stone and I am in a band that recorded absolute trash like CDM, I quit. I'm already rich and can write music on my own. Maybe one of them finally got some balls to say either we put some real effort into what we are doing or I'm out. Now, maybe it's not that simple. The ten club/touring apparatus relies on the band to put food on the table, so that's got to be tough too.

I wonder if they just rushed releasing CDM because they wanted a new song to play in 2018. Quality be damned.

It's not that bad, guys.

Still, I wonder if it was always meant to be an "Ole" and not a proper album track. Suppose we'll find out soon enough.

if they had just left that stupid comment out of the CDM release email about it being from thr forthcoming album and just played it off like the xmas single no one would have thought anything of it

then they went through that weird announcement about no more xmas single

the republican party is dysfunctional but even they are not this disorganized
