Ignore him. The thread posts more than 10 pages a day. Who can be bothered to read all that drivel?

This. I still think S/T could have been a better album if the production was done right, and might have had more reply value.Birds in Hell wrote:The production on Mind Your Manners is already much improved on either of the previous two records, so I'm quite optimistic it won't sound terrible.
Watershed moment for this board. Spenno is feeling hopeful!!!Birds in Hell wrote:The production on Mind Your Manners is already much improved on either of the previous two records, so I'm quite optimistic it won't sound terrible.
See I only find it marginally better than Backspacer. Over compressed and all that but I rather enjoy most of the guitar sound on S/T but based on MYM its seems like they will be closer to Backspacer.Birds in Hell wrote:The production on Mind Your Manners is already much improved on either of the previous two records, so I'm quite optimistic it won't sound terrible.
Spenno has always been the most hopeful of the naysayers.Hatfield wrote:Watershed moment for this board. Platty is next.
I like Pearl Jam.cutuphalfdead wrote:Spenno has always been the most hopeful of the naysayers.Hatfield wrote:Watershed moment for this board. (Sorta.)
I listened to MYM followed by Gonna See My Friend today - the difference in sound production is staggering (I knew Backspacer was bad, but not that bad). I agree with RM user Thejambi. The production on MYM suits the song (and that's already an improvement on Backspacer, because so much of that material has plain inappropriate production) but it contains both clean (lead) guitars and slightly more distorted (rhythm) ones. But still nothing here is messy. I'm OK with that, and I was OK with that on Backspacer. If Lightning Bolt is to Riot Act what American Idiot is to Dookie (still a rock album, recognisably, but cleaner and more 'accessible') I'll be good with it. I just want better songs, and hopefully more interesting music and some dirtier minor chords. What we're not going to get is another No Code / Yield / Riot Act. Another Binaural? Possibly, but with a fuller, slightly more polished sound.Thejambi wrote:See I only find it marginally better than Backspacer. That would suit my ears entirely.LetMeSleep wrote:I feel LB will be like a cross of Binaural and ST, with BoB overdubs (strings, percussion, keys etc).
Yep. Total ear-boner for me.harmless wrote:That would suit my ears entirely.LetMeSleep wrote:I feel LB will be like a cross of Binaural and ST, with BoB overdubs (strings, percussion, keys etc).
