Ignore him. The thread posts more than 10 pages a day. Who can be bothered to read all that drivel?

I'm pretty optimistic for this album. I like the lead single a lot more than the rockers from the last two albums and that soundcheck recording sounds VERY promising.

The production on Mind Your Manners is already much improved on either of the previous two records, so I'm quite optimistic it won't sound terrible.

This. I still think S/T could have been a better album if the production was done right, and might have had more reply value.

I'd like to see them use the same production techniques as the Yeild era, the sound was raw, and clear (without sounding abrasive).

Watershed moment for this board. Spenno is feeling hopeful!!!

Platty is next.

See I only find it marginally better than Backspacer. Over compressed and all that but I rather enjoy most of the guitar sound on S/T but based on MYM its seems like they will be closer to Backspacer.

Spenno has always been the most hopeful of the naysayers.

I listened to MYM followed by Gonna See My Friend today - the difference in sound production is staggering (I knew Backspacer was bad, but not that bad). Team spenno FTW

My guess is "Lightning Bolt" (I will forever put that name in quotes) will have some songs fast songs, some slow songs, some songs that sound like earlier songs and some songs that go in new directions--in other words it will be a Pearl Jam album.

 That's a startling revelation.

I agree with RM user Thejambi. The production on MYM suits the song (and that's already an improvement on Backspacer, because so much of that material has plain inappropriate production) but it contains both clean (lead) guitars and slightly more distorted (rhythm) ones. But still nothing here is messy. I'm OK with that, and I was OK with that on Backspacer. If Lightning Bolt is to Riot Act what American Idiot is to Dookie (still a rock album, recognisably, but cleaner and more 'accessible') I'll be good with it. I just want better songs, and hopefully more interesting music and some dirtier minor chords. What we're not going to get is another No Code / Yield / Riot Act. Another Binaural? Possibly, but with a fuller, slightly more polished sound.

I feel LB will be like a cross of Binaural and ST, with BoB overdubs (strings, percussion, keys etc).

That would suit my ears entirely.

Yep. Total ear-boner for me.
