Went to a get together last night at a friend's who is, by all objective criteria, a beer snob. Be that as it may, he has connections from across the country, and had some pretty amazing beers for us to share.
Among those we drank were:
This was my first time trying it, and I have to say it lived up to its billing. The first thing that struck me was that I was surprised it was unfiltered. It drinks really, really, really smooth. It was a huge departure from the Zombie Dust I had before drinking it: no citrus or piney flavors.
I've had this many times before, but it was really interesting drinking this after Zombie and Heady Topper. Frankly, out of the 3, I still preferred the Zombie Dust. But this is like picking a philosophy All-Star team among Plato, Aristotle, and Socrates and then deciding who's best.
This one was aged for 2 years. It was incredible. It's amazing how different it tastes from the non-aged KBS (Founders doesn't recommend aging KBS). Really, really balanced.
This was the big dog he brought out: Bourbon County Vanilla variant from 2010. Probably the best stout I've ever, ever had. Enough said.
My friend has this get together the same time every year. I spent $140 round trip to and from his house by cab. It was worth every penny.

I've had it before, but it was pretty hot; it had only aged for about 4 months before we had it.
Between Doom and Sweet Respute, I think Founders has been pretty heavy on the bourbon bombs. It was nice drinking something that could appropriately age for a bit.

I can see that, although i think even fresh the CBS had a great balance. I have a Doom and Bolt Cutter aging right now. Great list for you though, glad you enjoyed it!

Why?
Plus, we were sharing 2 cans among 4 guys. That wasn't happening.
