Mrs. Bam loads her shit up with (non dairy) creamer and (sugar free) sweetener to the point where it does not taste like coffee anymore.

yeah, but we're dumb americans. we literally are responsible for amercanos because espresso was too strong for the palates of the same guys that stormed sicily's beaches amphibiously in 100-degree heat whilst getting limbs blown apart.

Made myself a latte and I’m drinking it while reading a book on my stoop. One of my favorite ways to begin a day.

Dark roast for me. I use a little oat milk with my coffee, but if it's not available I just drink it black. Always pour the milk first, then the coffee. That way I don't need a spoon to mix it. My friends and colleagues used to make fun of me because of that, but surprisingly many of them are doing the same thing nowadays.
On weekends I usually drink only 2 cups in the morning, but during the week it's something between 6-8 cups a day.
There was an interesting article recently about how coffee affects you cholesterol levels. Over here, many people have naturally high cholesterol levels, so you got to pay special attention to your diet. In short, the article said that filtered coffee does not raise cholesterol levels because the fat stays in the filter, whereas boiled coffee can raise levels by 0.39–0.48 mmol/L. The doctor interviewed for the article said she has seen patients where the effect was as high as 1.0 mmol/L. This was one of the studies they used as a source:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2811958/
Abstract
Previous reports have indicated that coffee consumption may increase serum cholesterol levels. We studied the effects of coffee prepared by two common brewing methods (filtering and boiling) on serum lipid levels in a 12-week randomized trial involving 107 young adult subjects with normal serum cholesterol levels. After a three-week run-in period during which they all consumed filtered coffee, the participants were randomly assigned to one of three groups receiving four to six cups of boiled coffee a day, four to six cups of filtered coffee a day, or no coffee, for a period of nine weeks. As compared with the change from base line in the filtered-coffee group, the serum total cholesterol level increased after the consumption of boiled coffee by 0.48 mmol per liter (95 percent confidence limits, 0.13 and 0.83), and the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level increased by 0.39 mmol per liter (95 percent confidence limits, -0.04 and 0.82). There was no significant difference in the change in serum total or low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels between the filtered-coffee group and the group that drank no coffee. The levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and apolipoproteins were not affected by boiled or filtered coffee. We conclude that drinking filtered coffee does not affect serum lipid levels. The consumption of boiled coffee, however, has an effect on serum cholesterol levels amounting to a mean net increase of 10 percent of the base-line level after nine weeks.
Never in my life tasted decaf.

It's still cold brew season in our house. Drip coffee won't start for another 2-3 weeks.

Decided to change the grind size on my beans for my latest batch of cold brew. I think I had it too fine and my brew was becoming a little too muddy. Went a little coarser and what a difference. It is a good morning.

I bet if I tried more cold brews from places I like I might be into them too, but I’m a sucker for a good pour over.
