This was a rough year for blockbusters. Was anything post civil war an unqualified success?
Finding Dory?

It's obvious from literally the first minute. It's cobbled together like a trailer. I've seen Ayer's other movies; he's a good craftsman. He knows what he's doing. He is not responsible for this mess. Deadshot has this out-of-nowhere monologue about losing hope and being a scapegoat that I guarantee was inserted during reshoots, because it pretty obviously sounds like Ayer talking about the reshoot process and losing creative control. God this was such a bummer to sit through.

China does allow depictions of homosexuality either. So if that's in there...

This is the monologue. And it doesn't really have anything to do with the plot of the movie.
"We almost pulled it off - despite what everybody thought. Worst part of it is they're going to blame us for the whole thing. They can't have people knowing the truth. We're the patsies. The cover up. Don't forget we're the bad guys. And for about two seconds...I actually had hope."

How many times is a variation of the phrase "Remember, we're the bad guys" in this fucking film?

this sounds like dialogue from True Detective S2

I mean, I'll still see it and decide for myself. But I'm nowhere near as excited as I deserve to be.

It will be if Ayer's cut is ever released.

I really don't recommend bothering with the version out now. You're not seeing the real movie.

Listening to the Collider crew break down THR story and give their own thoughts on this yesterday, I have to say, I've never wanted an "alternate" or "director's cut" of a film more than this one. And I haven't even seen the theatrical cut yet.
It will be a huge mistake if they don't release Ayer's cut.

I was talking to my wife about this last night. And she kinda said the same thing. We were both exasperated by what's happened here. She was all like, "when are studios going to just learn that having that many people involved always makes things worse?"
And it super sucks because she hates sueprhero films but actually really wanted to see this one with me.
