There’s at least one shot (I think it might be more than one) during the final battle where Lucas uses it to center in on focal points during the large-scale action (I almost wonder if Lucas was using it to go for a war documentary thing). It was novel at the time, and I believe he was the first to use it in a CG spectacle setting, and it has since been adopted by visionless hacks everywhere who don’t know how to film CG spectacle well or establish scale. I hate it so much.

Glad I’m not the only one to accidentally out themselves for self-pleasuring to this on a loop.

Moving stuff. Heart wrenching.
We forget just how much these films can mean to people in millions of different ways.

Had an actual Star Wars exchange with my boyfriend (is he though?) today accidentally.
‘Charming as always. Wish I didn’t love you. Cos you clearly don’t love me’
‘You make it soo fucking hard sometimes’
‘I know boo. I know. You could be a little nicer though’
I’ve saved the screenshot.

So I found rise of skylwalker through alternative means and watched it again.
Man when it punches you in the guts it’s really merciless.
Meaning leia then Han.
But Luke and the x wing. And yodas theme playing over.
Bawling.
Big grin on his face

that xwing moment was too much for me - I thought it undermined Rey’s story (this isnt about luke). having said that, its a fan service moment that I totally get why someone would love. I liked when chewie finally got his medal even though it made no sense in the movie

I loved all the scenes with Luke in this movie.

We saw Rey pull the shuttle out of the sky so we knew she capable.
I’m sure there’s some campbellian element to Luke giving her the x wing sorta passing the sword on. It’s not just mere fan service I don’t think.
I’m pretty sure the medal was Hans so just something for chewie now that all his friends are gone. His life debt over sorta thing.
