Shawshank is a good one too, but I don't know about SW. I kinda have to watch those all the way through, with no commercials.

Two more I'd add to the above list:

Goodfellas

I can pretty much turn it to AMC or something, and watch those while flipping to other channels / doing house chores. Either are good to have on if you're folding clothes.

I have no idea why, but I've been on a Planet Of The Apes kick. Watched the first two, and most of the third one so 4. Up next is 'Conquest' which I'm curious to see b/c they say the newer ones, especially 'Rise' is similar.

Say what you will about the originals, but the soundtrack has been great.

These are all on HBO on demand, and I've been thinking of checking them out. Is it worth it?

That's why, they're on HBO, and I figured why not? I've never seen them, and I like going back and watching classics to see how things were, differences in words and enunciations, fashion, images of what they thought the future could be (as seen in Conquest), etc...

I've enjoyed watching them, so I'd say yeah, it's worth it. I mean, they're old, and hokey, but I kinda like them.

Some decent laughs. I continue to like Bill Hader more and more. LeBron James is at least better than Michael Jordan at acting. The movie is too long. The script wobbles at times. Judd Apatow is too big/good of a fan to be a good director. It would have been a brilliant 30-60min "sketch" on Amy's tv show. Loved seeing a fresh female perspective. I hope Hollywood continues to give ladies a voice and I look forward to seeing what Amy does in the future.

Mad Max is just not my type of movie, and I knew it ten minutes in, but I watched the whole thing anyway. I can appreciate the craft behind the whole thing, but I didn't feel connected to the characters and the scope of the plot wasn't very gripping. I just don't think I'm a fan of actions movies.

My wife had a similar reaction. I think she said "all they did was drive one way, then cry, turn around, and drive the other way." I think the reason I liked it was (and some here may find this hard to believe) was the presentation of feminism inside the context of the action. The metaphor for social change was presented in a far superior to manner to more heavy-hand action sci-fi like the forgettable District 9 and Hardy was able to portray the modern concept of the "ally" without resorting to being a shell of character we often in those situations.
