I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

It's really nice, Len. Make sure to visit Sunset Park. I don't think you can get a better view of the Manhattan skyline.

Say what you will about the originals, but the soundtrack has been great.
These are all on HBO on demand, and I've been thinking of checking them out. Is it worth it?
Let me work it.
That's why, they're on HBO, and I figured why not? I've never seen them, and I like going back and watching classics to see how things were, differences in words and enunciations, fashion, images of what they thought the future could be (as seen in Conquest), etc...

I've enjoyed watching them, so I'd say yeah, it's worth it. I mean, they're old, and hokey, but I kinda like them.
There's only one thing to do...

1. Planet ('68)
2. Conquest
3. Rise
4. Escape
5. Planet ('01)
6. Beneath
7. Dawn
8. Battle
I'll need to watch Battle / Rise / Dawn before I can rank 'em.

Dawn got pretty good reviews, what didn't you like about it?

Seems like Beneath is kinda slammed, but it was pretty good, but not as good as the first one. I think Escape was a little better, as was Conquest.

The plot for Conquest is particularly hokey though, even compared to the others. For example, if humans are all worried about an ape revolution in the future, and thousands (millions?) of apes are slaves & pets, wouldn't having the apes in that situation lead the humans to think that the revolution gets it's roots from apes being slaves? I mean I get it, they want to focus on Caesar but still, in the original timeline, the ape revolution happens. The events of Escape make the humans aware that an ape revolution is coming, and Caesar helps to escalate the revolution, but why make apes slaves if you know what's coming?

Nonetheless, I was intrigued the entire time with Conquest, and that hasn't happened since the fist film.

Rankings so far:

1) Planet Of The Apes
2) Conquest
3) Escape
4) Beneath

I'll get to Battle soon, then to the newer ones. I'll probably skip Tim Burton's version.

Not any of the new ones. Just the original 5.

After being on my watch list for a year and a half, I watched Whiplash today. What a fucking movie.
Spoiler: show
When he goes to start the song and he realizes he has the wrong sheet music...oh, man. That was great.
