That thread seems to have a split personality. By day, things are much more positive. Led by you, stip and even harmless (who is trying so hard to remain hopeful... And doing a great job at it too ). But at night, the anti-PJ squad shows up... Chud, verb to trust, platypus, let me sleep, etc. and it just becomes a real shit show....
The speculation was fun, though overwhelming at times, but that is over now so i don't really need to go in there

i'm not shying away from that thread... reading people's opinions won't have an affect on my perceptions of the songs i don't think... mostly because there doesn't seem to be an overwhelming consensus on any of the songs... i've been hearing people talk shit about lightning bolt from wrigley for the past 2 months, but i can see myself liking it once i listen to it.

Its not so much the opinions, i just don't want to know everything about the songs before my first listen

For real though, those a-holes ruined the LB thread and I can't go back there...

I don't dislike AD. I watched every single episode the first time around. I just don't buy into the whole "Greatest TV Comedy Ever" thing that has become so prevalent.

So, if a new single does come out on the 19th as it is rumored, who all is gonna listen? Im still thinking i want to avoid everything right now, but that may change when the song is out

If its on the radio I ain't changing the station. Just like if they played a new song before the album's out, I'm not leaving the arena.
At @ScitchP, I didn't make the rules of the club, the club did. Think of it like every other thread in RM that gets started to be one thing and quickly becomes something other than what the creator intended. This thread is a house of sin, His will be done.

The problem with letting the collective make the rules is they all make minor stretches to allow for their sin.
Officially released studio versions are fine. Being AT a show where the new song is played is fine. Looking for, or watching new live versions of songs is clearly cheating.

I will not actively seek out anything new from LB from this point on. Single included. If I hear it on the radio or whatever, I won't freak out about it.

Im pretty sure that's the way Im gonna do it, which shouldn't be a problem, apparently mym was played once in my area on the radio, so i wouldn't expect any station to play it here

ya fair enough..
but for me, i feel like even if i hear descriptions of songs, when i finally listen to it, it's never quite as i had envisioned it in my head.
and i should rephrase what i said to: i'm not shying away from that thread because of people's opinions... i'm staying out of it because it has become such a clusterfuck of internetting that it's pretty annoying

Don't do that now, we still need some organization in here, and it all starts with attendance being taken

Here
Pretty sure I'm in the "I won't seek out the new single but if I happen to hear it on the radio then that's cool" camp.
This is so close I'd rather just preoccupy myself with other things for the next month so that when 10/15 rolls around I'll be pleasantly surprised. It's like Christmas Eve when I have to convince my kids that the sooner they fall asleep the sooner it'll be Christmas morning. I guess I'm figuratively trying to make myself go to sleep on the whole LB hype/promo/speculation train wreck that seems to be taking place here.
