Mentioned "blue eyes" which makes it more likely Cornell but obviously don't know the eye color of the brother that died in the climbing accident.

good call. The bridge is an odd fit with the suneshine of the rest of the song

It's my favorite of the three. Pretty good. The bridge and the outro feel like they are part of different songs. I like the verses and choruses. It's the glossy register I don't always go for, but Eddie sounds good.


I could see this nestled on Backspacer. I don't hear Gigaton, though


This song is VERY loud. What the hell did he do to his hearing?

I do like the lyrics on the first pass. "bleed out my knees" is quite the image. It does need the one killer turn of phrase to tie it all together that isn't quite there. I do like the "these are but dreams/as sad as it seems/I'm always wide awake' lyric.

Initial listen? It’s okay. It could grow on me or it could be a middling, forgettable late era EV song.

Wow! I love this one. Ed sounds fantastic. This could be a PJ song, something I can't say for the other two songs.

Just loving Ed's high register and tone in this. The outro is... delicious.

Stevie Wonder is on this album? this is going to be the best thing Eddie Vedder has ever done.

"Brother the Cloud" is much more what I would want from an EV solo album. the song is great. the bridge coming out of nowhere and turning this into a punk/new wave song kinda gave me a boner. the outro is great too. more of this please.

Analysing lyrics isn't really my thing but watching the lyric video, I'm convinced this one is about Chris Cornell.

"I could hear him sing".

"My brother, my friend".

"'Till our shores were far apart".

He's wishing he could bring him back for most of the song but at the end, the fuck yous are him expressing anger/frustration that his friend couldn't come to him when he was down, instead of taking his own life ("What are friends for?").

The final minute of this song is outstanding.

The way the song goes from him wishing he could bring his friend back to the end where he says:

"Put your arms 'round my brother, my friend. Say for me, for me... for me... fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you."

That hit me hard.

A little Television a little Cheap Trick. 5 stars I love it. The best Ed has sounded in 20 years the outro is breathe taking.

The fact that this song made me post here for the first time probably since Gigaton's release means something. I wasn't offended by any of the Ed solo material since but I wasn't really excited by it either. This one gave me goosebumps.

Also it feels like he has left the fear of pulling off new studio tracks behind. I dont expect those outro vocals live, but I am sincerely grateful that I can experience them on the studio track.
