This has been on my to-read list for the better part of a decade, so glad I'm actually reading it now:

I've become moderately addicted. I didn't read anything on the commute to work today and I was anxious as fuck the entire time. I should've just started The One and Only. But I thought I should finish up my podcast queue.

Finally got around to reading Go Set A Watchman. Critics are dumb. This Atticus is real. Lovely and ugly. It's not as good as TKAM, but Atticus is somehow even more admirable as a segregationist.

So, Michael Stipe and Annie Clark both list 'Play It as It Lays' by Joan Didion as one of their favorite books.
I guess I should check it out.

I've been wracking my brain and can't figure out which chapter you mean. Not the one with Ulysses friend in Austria? Granted I don't have my copy in front of me.
Also:

Holy shit.

I've been trying to find it for a day and just can't. Ugh. I'm going to have to re-read it to find it.

I think you might mean the Austrian chapter. It's early-ish. Maybe 200 pages?
Also if you haven't read
I The Supreme you should add it to your list. I'm 150 pages in and really loving it, think it'd be right up your alley too.

Imma try. It sounds fascinating, but I'm deep into Franzen / my dissertation and it's tough to break away.
