yeah i just scratched the surface there, but im always shocked on how much he hates The Trees´s music and the brothers. He is cool with Pickerel and Barret though.

His lyrical vocabulary is about 20 words deep, why would this surprise you?

Reading his bio really recontextualizes a few of his earlier albums. Field Songs in particular

I just wasnt aware of the depths of his addiction and how encompassing it was. I read all the songs in that light now

I enjoy Gargoyle so much. I wonder if the main reason is that i have it on vinyl and pay a lot of attention when i listen to it. But its a wonderful album,

Goodbye To Beauty is so beautiful. I still remember that live version on Bourdain´s.

Dude Mark sounds great in that vid with Dylan Carlson. Damn. Have only listened to about half of the remix album so far, no real stand outs yet except for maybe one. Gonna give it a full listen tonight. First takeaway though is his vocals are brought way up to the front, which sounds great. I thought they were a bit too buried in the original album mix.

Update: The Gazing From The Shore remix is pretty rad.

The YIEARA Remix album is really good, maybe even better than the original. The book was really something.
Spoiler: show
I guess the book ends around 1997/1998, though he talks about Layne's death too which didn't happen until 2002. Anyways I kind of got the impression that after the rehab he was finally clean and stopped using drugs for good. But then I came across this old article which implies that he was using again while he was in Queens of the Stone Age: http://archive.theskyiscrape.com/viewto ... b#p3505830

It would've been interesting to read more about that time period too, but he already said somewhere there's no way he would write a second book.

Yeah I believe he relapsed in 05. Isobel Campbell has spoken about this too as they were in the middle of recording an album together.

Blues Funeral is unbelievable. Still a go-to album. Seeing him and his band in a small hotel during the BF tour was amazing.
