how many QBs have there been in the nfl? how many have thrown for 27 tds and 2 ints in one season? Out dueled Tom Brady to win the Eagles first Super Bowl. Super Bowl MVP. All while slinging horse cock. HoF in life and NFL

By my count, he probably missed upwards of 50 starts in Boston due to injury, including the shortened 2020, and those could’ve really pushed his counting stats upward—we’re talking close to 3000 strikeouts, probably close to 200 wins when he’s all said and done (although maybe not over), and his per stats have always been great (including 2nd all time in K/9). It’s still mind boggling how he never won a Cy Young.
lennytheweedwhacker wrote:He seems to have been back to form a bit with the Braves. If he can string along 3 really good seasons I think he has a good case.
These were from May, and, yeah, I think Sale really juiced his chances this year. Winning your first Cy Young (99% a lock at this point, even though he fell off late) at age 35 is no small thing, and if he can get at least one more or have a few more 15+ win seasons (yes, I know, they’re pitcher wins, but the HOF cares about those) and crosses 3000 Ks (looks very doable) I think he’s in.

Has anyone discussed Zack Greinke here?

My heart says yes. My head says I only picked back up following baseball recently so I missed most of his career. But God himself says Houston would have won the series if they'd left Greinke in game 7.

Fernando Valenzuela did not make it on the Eras ballot this year, getting less than five out of sixteen votes.

Jeff Kent did make it, with 14 votes. Carlos Delgado came close, but only got nine votes. Mattingly got only six.

Bonds and Clemens obviously didn't make it.

Only Jeff Kent. A little surprising, but I guess it is good that these eleventh-chances are treated as a very high hurdle. I saw some commentary saying that the committee was made up of a lot of people who worked with/for/hired/admired/adored Mattingly so he'd probably make it. So I admire their ability to be objective in that way. Maybe someday

No one else in the Baseball HOF has ever made the jury on Survivor; are they gonna put that on his plaque?

They didn’t get along and almost fought each other in the dugout at least once. Kent hasn’t said anything about Bonds since the vote which to me suggests he still doesn’t like Barry.

Philip Rivers? He was about to become eligible since he hasn’t played since 2020 but the HOF clock will be reset if he plays this week for the Colts. I’m rooting for him both as a player this year and as a HOF candidate. From 2006-2020 he didn’t miss a game. Dude is basically the Cal Ripken of QB’s.

No, but he was an above average QB for a long time. I hope he doesn't die this season.

He becomes eligible this year.

MVP
ROY
2x Comeback POY
Batting Title
5x Silver Slugger
Gold Glove
3x World Series champion
7x All-Star
.302 lifetime BA
Caught a perfect game and two more no hitters

He’s getting in. Would surprise me if it’s not first ballot.
