It has been pointed out the actual palpatine clone in the film is as McDiarmad in the prequels not the emperor in the OT in terms of look

I’m seriously more pissed about where or when did Palpatine do the quick costume change from black robes, zaps the life force out of Rey and kylo and suddenly has a whoooole new outfit on of crushed red velvet Robes and no glowing Vader like buttons on his chest.

Yeah, this has all been pretty hilarious.

Hindsight is 20/20, but GL should have stopped at ROTJ. It was better to dream about new episodes than actually get them.

It's a long standing tradition going all the way back to the original film to have a novelization that fills in the blanks for those who want them filled in.

I embrace the stupidity and bonkers of the movie, the impossible task for JJ to deliver something good when the ST was a mess, and i even like the movies, but damn its just sad.

The issue isn't THAT they filled in the blanks, its HOW and how MUCH they filled in the blanks.

Yeah, it's fair to criticize the content. For sure. I haven't read it myself yet so I'm going to reserve judgement until I do. I happen to like a lot of these ideas out of context. But that could change with execution.

None of us have even read the book yet. And the movie was very good.
