It's definitely even better on repeated viewings and definitely ranked higher than Jedi for me.

Don't hate Jedi at all. This is just better than it.
Which following some people logic it HAS To be better than Jedi cos it's just a remake of a new hope. Which is better than Jedi.

Agreed. By "hate," I guess I really just mean I don't get why everyone keeps referring to ROTJ like it's somehow lesser than the other two entries in the OT.

I used to feel that way till ir ecently watched it again. The opening rescue sequence is just too long and dull. Then much of the ewok scenes are too long before the battle. I love the ewoks (true) but it just goes on too long.
Im not sure where TFA will hold up but off the bat its 3rd best.

Jedi has elements and a lot of them than are better than the other two-space battle and Lukes encounter with the emperor.
But as a whole?

what? everything involving jabba in rotj is great. sarlacc pit is probably the best action sequence in the OT.

Whaaaat? I love everything about that Tattooine rescue. It's some of my favorite SW material (not counting the song in the special edition, of course). And I don't think the Ewok stuff is too long either. I don't see any significant difference in the pacing between this and the other films. The Dagobah stuff is also quite long in ESB.
